This week Celebrity Icing is going to feature a few celebrity chefs. When it comes to cooking, I like their style, so I’ve selected some celebrity icing (jewelry) inspired by them. I also like their style of cooking, so I’ve selected a recipe from each of them as well. We have Paula Deen and her deviled eggs for starters, Giada De Laurentiis and her fancy macaroni and cheese (did you know she was related to Dino De Laurnetiis the famous filmmaker? I had no idea…). For dessert, we have Gordon Ramsay and his Caramelized Banana Split recipe:

Paula Deen

Paula Deen likes to wear hoop or chandelier style earrings. She usually wears silver or white gold which is a smart choice given her hair color, skin tone, and vibrant blue eyes. It also updates her otherwise rather classic and conservative style – a look that is further accentuated when she wears her pearl necklace or her yellow gold wristwatch. Charm the guests at your next modern cocktail party with some good ol’ deviled eggs, Paula Deen style.

Gordon Ramsay

From Deen to mean.

Actually this chef is not a favorite- he stresses me out and I don’t watch his show. The only accessories that suit this chef are made out of cold steel, such as the watch he is wearing. I hope it’s all an act, because when he’s smiling he is actually pretty nice looking- as seen above. Giada De Laurentiis

From mean to lean.

Giada is always a pleasure to watch, and going by the search results that came up when I was looking for her, not just for her recipes. Not surprising, since she is beautiful- both inside and out, if her on-screen personality is a true reflection of her in real life. Her Everyday Italian style is casual and young, yet classy. Likewise her recipe for macaroni and cheese is comfort food with class – her recipe uses heavy cream, grated Fontina, and ham.

Celebrity Children are All Grown Up

Prince’s son and Madonna’s daughter are both 16 years old this year, as are Jude Law’s son and Martin Lawrence’s daughter. Lindsay Lohan’s little sister Dakota turns 16 this year as well.

Hollywood can be confusing. Some of its senior citizens look like they are in their thirties; some of its tweens look the same age. This week, Celebrity Icing went hunting for some famous 16 year olds to see what they were wearing. Taylor Momsey

Jenny or “Little J” on Gossip Girl started off as a sweetheart and ended up rock n roll eye shadowed tart. Taylor Momsey seems to have a similar split personality in real life. Here she is, looking fresh-faced and age appropriate.

And here we have Taylor performing on stage with her band, trying to fill Avril LaVigne’s shoes, perhaps…

SOUR

We would have preferred a less revealing and provocative outfit, with some rock and roll accessories instead. These twisted silver hoop earrings are a great way to hint that you may be a wild child.

Dakota Fanning

SWEET

A sweet photo evocative of little red riding hood. A charm bracelet or fun heart tag bracelet would really top off her look.

Below, Dakota’s look may be a bit over-sophisticated for your average teen, but at least it isn’t a corset with a garter belt, as pictured above.

She looks like she is in her early twenties, a pair of converse running shoes would be better than those heels.

Corde Broadus

It was actually a challenge to find pictures of Corde wearing more than board shorts. Snoop Dogg’s oldest son’s closet must be full of swimwear, which seems appropriate for an athletic 16 year old teenager growing up in California. I believe the photo below (he is on the left) was taken at his 16th birthday party, last May.

SWEET

This look is quite formal for a teen, but probably mandatory at many private schools… the small earring is a subtle expression of his personal style.

This week we continue our features on star sign inspired style.

Scorpios are born between October 24 and November 21.

According to circles of light.com, Scorpios have “piercing eyes, sexual magnetism” and are “secretive… and exciting”. They are also “great leaders… well spoken and charming.”

Julia Roberts

At first impression Julia Roberts seems like a nice person (and she probably is) but there is something else in her eyes and her mannerisms that hints that there is a lot more going on behind the scenes. She is either much smarter than she seems or a lot more ruthless – definitely, she is more mysterious than popular opinion gives her credit for.

Perhaps Chris Noth is more like Mr. Big than we think? Sexual magnetism and charm are both traits of the scorpio…

Lisa Bonet

Lisa Bonet is definitely a mystery – she seems to resurface every few years in movies alongside big names such as Mickey Rourke (in 1987 Rourke was considered a big name), Will Smith, and John Cusack – only to disappear again – drawing some conjecture that she is perhaps difficult to work with?

Yet, if you grew up watching her as Denise Huxtable like I did, you can’t help but like Lisa Bonet – she seems like an old friend or cool older sister.

Most recently she appeared in two episodes of the TV series Life on Mars.

What kind of earrings suit your hair, your face, your personality?

Chandelier Earrings

Or, as I’ve always called them, dangly earrings – look great if you have your long hair up, like Jennifer Lopez does below.

The earrings she’s wearing fit right in with her dress to give her an overall look that says glamour gal all the way. She looks like she’s having a great time, too, and sincere laughter is always the best accessory!

They also work well if you have longer hair that might hide a smaller pair of earrings (and then, what’s the point?)

Marilyn Monroe, oops I mean, Drew Barrymore looks positively naughty here with her tousled hair, disheveled-looking dress and kittenish smirk. The earrings complete the look perfectly. Long earrings also lengthen her round face and big hair so that she doesn’t end up looking like the mother-in-law from Everybody Loves Raymond.

Studs

Small earrings will work with long hair if the ears are visible.

Also, you don’t want to over-accessorize: if you are wearing a big necklace you probably shouldn’t wear big earrings, too. The picture of Cate Blanchett (below) is a perfect example. I’m not a big fan of the necklace choice but it does sort of suit her and that’s the point after all – jewelry should express your personality.

Hoop Earrings

Hoop earrings are a great, young look – as seen here on Hilary Duff and Rhianna. They work well with long hair (pulled back) as well as very short hair. Avoid wearing large hoop earrings if you aren’t as fresh-faced as these girls, unless you are working out of a tent at the local carnival telling fortunes, of course…
