Dakota and Elle Fanning

Sisters Dakota, 17, and Elle, 13, have been in the acting game for over ten years. Though they haven’t portrayed sisters on camera (yet), Elle started her career at age 2 by playing a younger version of her sister’s character in the film Oscar-nominated film, “I Am Sam”. The girls are known for their bohemian-chic fashion sense, and flair for mixing high fashion with thrift store funky. You can’t talk about screen sisters without mentioning the Kardashians! Kourtney, Kim and Khloe have long been Hollywood socialites, but dove into TV stardom in 2007 with the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Since then the trio have starred in a number of spin-offs, and created a merchandising empire including clothing lines (most notably Kardashian Kollection for Sears), tanning products, and jewelry. Paula Deen likes to wear hoop or chandelier style earrings. She usually wears silver or white gold which is a smart choice given her hair color, skin tone, and vibrant blue eyes. Giada is always a pleasure to watch, and going by the search results that came up when I was looking for her, not just for her recipes. Not surprising, since she is beautiful- both inside and out, if her on-screen personality is a true reflection of her in real life. Her Everyday Italian style is casual and young, yet classy. Likewise her recipe for macaroni and cheese is comfort food with class – her recipe uses heavy cream, grated Fontina, and ham.

Just a few days to July 4th and time to look through your closet for all things red, white, and blue!

Katherine Hepburn was able to portray very strong women who were also uniquely vulnerable – this made her roles very interesting (and timeless).

She also had a talent for comedy and an ability to be beautiful and funny at the same time.

My favorite Hepburn movies has to be Philadelphia Story – I think I’ve seen it more than any other, and I still enjoy it every time. There is a another version of the same story starring Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby, and it is also good – but not AS good as the Hepburn version.

If you’re city folk like me, you spend a lot of time surrounded by the manmade, manufactured, mass produced environment of offices, grocery stores, traffic, and shopping malls. And, even though I work from home, I spend too much time in front of my computer with a few houseplants scattered here and there – and not enough time in my backyard or the nearby parks…
