Celebrities are known to spare no expense when it comes to special occasions, and what could be more special than the arrival of a newborn?  After all, while baby might begin with a  twinkle in Daddy’s eye,  Mommy certainly deserves some sparkle for her  labor pains!

Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe with baby

The always spectacular Rachel Zoe received a 10K diamond ring from husband Rodger Berman after the birth of her baby. While we suspect she won’t be wearing it while changing diapers, it must certainly remind her of that special day that the two of them became three. You could remind the mother of your little one how much she means to you with a stunning ring like this.

While a diamond ring may be a  classic push present, other celebs favour an even larger statement. Jessica Simpson was reportedly  given a collection of platinum bracelets and  a matching necklace with a  “huge amethyst” by hubby Eric Johnson when her daughter was born. Make a shining  statement to  your baby momma with this eye-catching gold bracelet.

If sentimentality rather than flashy bling is more your style, you may  like the route taken  by Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker.  Parker received a lovely charm bracelet as a post-partum gift,  which certainly made her smile.  This kind of jewelry is easy to personalize-  and what better keepsake for a glowing new Mom?  Check out this darling charm bracelet for the new mom in your life.

July is best known as America’s birthday, but these hot celebs also throw their birthday shindigs in July. These beautiful stars are on some of the biggest TV shows of the year, and I’m sure their success will be reflected at their b-day bashes this month.

Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) – July 10th

Sofia is one of the fantastic ensemble cast of the hit sitcom “Modern Family”. Sofia plays the Columbian bombshell, Gloria. In more personal news, it’s rumored that Sofia has recently become engaged to long-time beau, Nick Loeb. The story started circulating when Sofia appeared at a function last week wearing a diamond ring on the finger reserved for an engagement ring. Wear diamond earrings like these to sparkle like Sofia.

Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl) – July 18th

Chace is a former frat boy and Abercrombie and Fitch model which seems like the perfect background for playing Nate Archibald on “Gossip Girl”. This sultry Cancer also has a comedic streak and has done voice work for both “Robot Chicken” and “Family Guy”. Chace has two movies being released this year as well. For now Chace seems content to sow his wild oats: he’s got a bit of a reputation as a party boy, but perhaps one day a lucky lady will be getting a ruby and diamond wedding ring from him.

Anna Paquin (True Blood) – July 24th

Anna started her acting career in Jane Campion’s “the Piano”, for which she won an Academy Award at age 11. Currently she stars as Sookie Stackhouse in the HBO smash “True Blood”. Anna married her co-star, Stephen Moyer, in 2010, and now the two are expecting twins! Clearly this Canadian-born, New Zealand-raised American star doesn’t believe in doing anything half-way. The moonstone-set engagement ring and wedding ring Stephen gave Anna were custom designed by Cathy Waterman, but these matching wedding rings are similar in their traditional style.

True Blood’s fifth season started June 10th on HBO, and there wasn’t a dull moment. Chock full of shock, the season opener shows more promise than last year’s story arc already. Here’s a look at the otherworldly ladies of Bon Temps, Louisiana.

Pam Swynford DeBeaufort

At the end of last season, bad boy extraordinaire, Eric Northman, shunned his progeny and partner-in-crime, Pam, for putting his paramour, Sookie, in danger. Though it was an effort to protect him, and Sookie cast Eric aside shortly after, it still remains to be seen whether Pam will get back in her Maker’s ‘good’ graces.

Get Pam’s high class sex appeal by wearing a gold bracelet like this one.

Jessica Hamby

King Bill’s offspring, and formerly Hoyt Fortenberry’s one-and-only, Jessica’s vampire transformation has also changed her from the demure girl-next-door into a dangerous damsel. She’s  recently laid claim to Sookie’s sexy sibling, Jason Stackhouse, leaving poor Hoyt heartbroken.

This white gold pendant with a garnet birthstone works well with both sides of Jessica’s personality.

Sookie Stackhouse

Sookie is the shining blonde Southern belle of the show, a Faerie-Human hybrid. She holds the hearts of the powerful Bill Compton, Vampire King of Louisiana; the ancient Nordic warrior vampire, Eric Northman; and hunky werewolf, Alcide Herveaux. In Sookie’s blood lies tremendous power she’s just starting to discover. This season shows her striking out on her own, sans suitor.

This diamond engagement ring looks just like the one Bill gave Sookie way back in True Blood’s second season finale.

Tara Thornton

Tara is Sookie’s wise-cracking, sarcasm-slinging, vamp-hating childhood bestie who’s had some hard knocks during the course of the show. Last season’s finale leaves her dead on Sookie’s kitchen floor after valiantly stepping in front of a shotgun for her long-time friend. Since the last 4 seasons have shown us True Blood is unpredictable at best, I wonder how Tara will be returning this season? A spirit or a vampire? Or maybe, just maybe… Didn’t waitress Arlene from Merlotte’s say in the Season 4 closer that zombies are the new vampires?

Tara normally wears hoops like these silver earrings.

Spring Engagements

15 May 2012 In: Celebrities, Droolery, Uncategorized

It’s springtime, and it does indeed seem that love is in the air! Here are just a few of Hollywood’s high profile citizens that have recently sent out their “save the date” announcements. Not only have they landed some lookers, but they’re all donning some spectacular icing as well!

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel, and on-again-off again beau and superstar, Justin Timberlake, have decided to tie the knot! They’ve been together for 5 years now, and have decided on a short engagement: they’re getting married sometimes this summer at a private estate. Jessica’s massive engagement ring will match well with this diamond wedding band: the low profile would work with the high setting, yet it has enough detail to hold its weight beside this stunner.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway, the star of hit films such as The Devil Wears Prada and Love and Other Drugs,  has become engaged to Adam Shulberg. The couple have been together since 2008. Her ring is a 6-carat diamond set in platinum, said to have a value around $150,000. If you like the look, but not the price tag, try out this oval diamond solitaire ring in Palladium, Platinum’s little sister.

Drew Barrymore

Drew’s also set to walk down the aisle in June with fiance Will Kopelman. Though this is Drew’s third marriage, it seems the couple will be celebrating a first together: though unconfirmed, it is rumoured that Drew’s expecting! Drew’s classic ring is a rare radiant cut diamond, but this similarly styled Asscher cut diamond ring is just as beautiful.

Celebrity Icing travels to Europe today to pay tribute to some icons of style from Italy, France, and Sweden and feature some jewelry inspired by them:

Sophia Loren – Italy

Sophia Loren European Celebrities

Sophia Loren’s Hollywood debut was 1957′s Boy on a Dophin, but she had already been on the Italian screen for 6 years. A celebrated beauty, Sophia Loren is also known for her wit and intelligence. She loved her husband Carlo Ponti so much that she married him twice (see her biography for details), and was with him for 57 years.

Match white gold and diamond hoop earrings with a red cocktail dress to get Loren’s look above.

Jeanne Moreau – France

diamond wedding ring

Born in Paris, Jeanne Moreau’s mother was a dancer and her father was a restaurateur. With successful careers in theater and as a singer, she is probably most famous for her roles in films directed by some of France’s most influential filmmakers: Truffaut, Malle, and Bunuel.

Anita Eckberg – Sweden

Silver Bracelet

Anita Eckberg was Miss Sweden in 1950 and later under contract at Universal Studios where she starred in films such as Abbott and Costello Go To Mars, but it was Italian director Fellini that gave Anita Eckberg her greatest role, as the ‘dream woman’ in Le Dolce Vita.

Anita Eckberg is wearing classic black and white with silver bracelets – a timeless look that looks good in any part of the world, during any decade.

Every year, millions of people watch a little thing called the Academy Awards. Parties are thrown, families gather around the television, and many of them are doing so just for the red carpet coverage. Here’s some highlights from this year’s carpet crawl:

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

This Hollywood power couple looked fabulous as always! Although Brad’s Best Actor nomination for “Moneyball” didn’t result in an award, Angelina’s dress and peekaboo leg were a hot trend on Twitter, showing yet again that they can turn heads where ever they go. Get Angelina’s look with this stand-out diamond solitaire ring.

Michelle Williams

She turned many a head with her coral gown by Louis Vuitton, making Best Dressed lists everywhere. Williams didn’t take home the Best Actress Oscar she was nominated for, but she had her best friend, Busy Phillips, as her +1 for consolation. Her clean-lined jewelry and cute pixie cut let her fashion-forward elegance shine. Here’s some understated diamond earrings that we think would look great with her Oscar Night look.

Natalie Portman

Portman stirred up some talk while walking the carpet with her partner, Benjamin Millepied. Portman was sporting custom designed platinum bands on either side of her gorgeous engagement ring, which matched the platinum band on Millepied’s left ring finger. Are these wedding rings? As the couple are notoriously private, there still hasn’t been confirmation on whether they have tied the knot, or not. If you’re looking to emulate Portman’s elegant style, here’s a similar conflict-free diamond engagement ring in palladium, a more affordable metal from the platinum family which aligns with Portman’s ethical sensibilities.

With Valentine’s Day just yesterday, we’re giving some love to a few Hollywood couples who have stood the test of time. We see stars’ relationships and marriages come and go as often as their hairstyles, but there are also some great role models for those of us looking for love everlasting.

Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick

Sarah and Matthew met through Sarah’s brother who ran a theatre company. They were married May 19, 1997. Their marriage has produced 3 beautiful children: James, Marion and Tabitha. Both Sarah and Matthew have very busy schedules, juggling their careers in the film industry, their charity commitments, and the schedules of their children. Sarah says it’s mayhem, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

We love Sarah’s minimalist look here, but we think she’d look even better with this gorgeous snowflake-style diamond necklace to pair with her icy blue eyes.

Kevin Bacon & Kyra Sedgewick

Kevin and Kyra met way back in the 1980′s on the set of a PBS movie, and were married September 4, 1988. During those 23 years of marriage they’ve had  2 children (Travis and Sosie), made 60+ movies, worked on 13 television series, won 18 awards, and been nominated for 49 more. That’s a success in our books!

We’ve noticed that Kyra wears her wedding band on the red carpet, but not her engagement ring. Here’s a diamond engagement ring that would go perfectly with her style and her yellow gold wedding band.

Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson

Tom and Rita met while working on their television show, Bosom Buddies, but didn’t become romantically involved until they worked together on the film Volunteers. They married in 1988 as well, on April 28th. They have 4 children: Colin and Elizabeth, from Tom’s previous marriage, and Chester and Truman. Colin and Chester both seem to have the acting bug, as well. Colin Hanks had a recurring role on the Showtime hit series, Dexter, this past season.

Here are some elegant diamond earrings that will make you look as classy as Rita.

Part of NBC’s fall line-up, Revenge is getting a lot of attention, including some of the biggest ratings for ABC in years. The show stars Emily VanCamp as Amanda Clarke, aka Emily Thorne, a woman set on destroying those who destroyed her father. After rubbing elbows with the Hamptons elite during Amanda’s childhood, her father was framed and jailed for terrorism. Amanda  has now returned to the Hamptons under the alias “Emily Thorne” to wreak havoc on the lives of those who ruined her father, and took him away from her. As the season unfolds, you come to understand just how passionate she is about her plan, and how far she is willing to go to make them pay for their past deeds.

If you follow the show already, you’ll know there’s a love triangle forming between Emily, Daniel Grayson, and Jack Porter. We already know from the pilot that she and Daniel will be engaged, but here’s the diamond engagement ring I hope that Jack will give Emily when the time is right.

These are the women of the Hamptons who should have Emily on their radar in the coming episodes.

Victoria Grayson (Madeline Stowe)

The Queen of the Hamptons, and the top check box on Emily’s hit list, Victoria is a force to be reckoned with. She’s not only an evil mastermind, but she throws a killer Memorial Day party. Her jewelry tastes are simple and expensive, not unlike this diamond necklace. But this pendant won’t set you back a mint.

“Amanda Clarke” (Margarita Levieva)

The girl who switched identities with the true Amanda Clarke, her presence threatens to expose them both. Margarita’s character is a poor, small town girl. Her fashion sense doesn’t quite stand up to the rest of the Hampton crew, but we think these diamond earrings would be an understated hit in her crowd.

Ashley Davenport (Ashley Madekwe)

Emily’s best friend and Victoria’s assistant, Ashley seems intent on climbing her way to the top of the Hamptons’ socialite circle by pleasing Victoria any way necessary. Ruthless Emily may come to see poor Ashley as more of a hinderance than a help…  Ashley may not have the same bank rolls, but this bracelet will make her look like a million bucks.

Screen Sisters

11 Jan 2012 In: Celebrities, Droolery, Earrings, Foolery, Hot, Jewelry, sweet

Dakota and Elle Fanning

Sisters Dakota, 17, and Elle, 13, have been in the acting game for over ten years. Though they haven’t portrayed sisters on camera (yet), Elle started her career at age 2 by playing a younger version of her sister’s character in the film Oscar-nominated film, “I Am Sam”. These blonde beauties are also fashionistas: Dakota appeared in a Marc Jacobs campaign, and Elle was invited to the Chanel couture show in Paris, both at the young age of 12.  Elle’s films include Reservation Road, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Super 8; while Dakota’s famous flicks include The War of the Worlds, The Runaways, and the Twilight Saga movies. Here’s some pearl earrings we think these girl would raid each others’ jewelry boxes for!

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley started their careers as infants on the TV show Full House. During the 8 years the show ran, the twins made several videos, as well as creating their own brand of merchandise. These ventures earned them a place on the Forbes’ celebrity 100 list when they were 16. The girls are known for their bohemian-chic fashion sense, and flair for mixing high fashion with thrift store funky. They love accessorizing, and often sport big framed sunglasses and stand-out jewelry. This star diamond necklace would look sweet with their crinolined dresses.

Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian

You can’t talk about screen sisters without mentioning the Kardashians! Kourtney, Kim and Khloe have long been Hollywood socialites, but dove into TV stardom in 2007 with the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Since then the trio have starred in a number of spin-offs, and created a merchandising empire including clothing lines (most notably Kardashian Kollection for Sears), tanning products, and jewelry. As for the Kardashian ladies’ icing, Kim has recently shed her 12-carat engagement ring after divorcing husband, Kris Humphries, but Khloe still dons the 9-carat diamond trio engagement ring from Lamar Omar. You too can get that decadent Kardashian look with this diamond cocktail ring.

There’s been a resurgence in the popularity of Americana, roots and folk music over the last few years. Acoustic instrument sales are up, and you can hear banjo’s twanging away on the radio in the even the poppiest of rock songs. Here are a few of the women who have dominated Billboard’s Folk Music chart this year.

Gillian Welch and Alison Krauss

These two artists came into the mainstream with 2000’s hit film, “O Brother Where Art Thou”. They collaborated on its award-winning soundtrack to sing the hitI’ll Fly Away.

This year, they’re sharing the Billboard Folk Chart once again:

Gillian has been busy all summer touring the country’s festivals in support of her album, The Harrow and the Harvest, with musician David Rawlings (don’t let the lack of a wedding ring fool you – this musical duo have been an item for years).

Here’s the engagement ring we think she should be wearing:

Alison has also been criss-crossing the United States with her band Union Station supporting this year’s release of paper airplane. Here’s the diamond jewelry we chose for her that compliments her unique style.

Zooey Deschanel

These big blue eyes have captured the hearts of many on TV and the movies, but did you know she could sing, too? Zooey has been the ‘she’ of She and Him with M. Ward since 2008. They released their third album, A Very She and Him Christmas in October, and have been at the top of the charts ever since. For those who can’t take their eyes off this beauty, she’s also recently taken off her wedding ring. As her favorite designer is none other than Chanel, the jewelry we’ve picked for her to wear is a classic diamond tennis bracelet.

Sarah Jarosz

Sarah was a mere 18 years old when her first album, Song up in Her Head, came out in 2009. She’s a musical genius, with two award-nominated albums under her belt by the age of twenty. Her instruments include guitar, banjo, and mandolin, but her signature instrument is the mando-cello. Accomplished, but still young, Sarah seems to have a penchant for fun, dangling earrings. These are the pearls we picked for her.
