It’s springtime, and it does indeed seem that love is in the air! Here are just a few of Hollywood’s high profile citizens that have recently sent out their “save the date” announcements. Not only have they landed some lookers, but they’re all donning some spectacular icing as well!

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel, and on-again-off again beau and superstar, Justin Timberlake, have decided to tie the knot! They’ve been together for 5 years now, and have decided on a short engagement: they’re getting married sometimes this summer at a private estate. Jessica’s massive engagement ring will match well with this diamond wedding band: the low profile would work with the high setting, yet it has enough detail to hold its weight beside this stunner.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway, the star of hit films such as The Devil Wears Prada and Love and Other Drugs,  has become engaged to Adam Shulberg. The couple have been together since 2008. Her ring is a 6-carat diamond set in platinum, said to have a value around $150,000. Drew Barrymore

Drew’s also set to walk down the aisle in June with fiance Will Kopelman. Sophia Loren – Italy

Sophia Loren’s Hollywood debut was 1957′s Boy on a Dophin, but she had already been on the Italian screen for 6 years. A celebrated beauty, Sophia Loren is also known for her wit and intelligence. She loved her husband Carlo Ponti so much that she married him twice (see her biography for details), and was with him for 57 years.

Jeanne Moreau – France

Born in Paris, Jeanne Moreau’s mother was a dancer and her father was a restaurateur. With successful careers in theater and as a singer, she is probably most famous for her roles in films directed by some of France’s most influential filmmakers: Truffaut, Malle, and Bunuel.

Anita Eckberg – Sweden

Anita Eckberg was Miss Sweden in 1950 and later under contract at Universal Studios where she starred in films such as Abbott and Costello Go To Mars, but it was Italian director Fellini that gave Anita Eckberg her greatest role, as the ‘dream woman’ in Le Dolce Vita.

Anita Eckberg is wearing classic black and white with silver bracelets – a timeless look that looks good in any part of the world, during any decade.

Every year, millions of people watch a little thing called the Academy Awards. Parties are thrown, families gather around the television, and many of them are doing so just for the red carpet coverage. Here’s some highlights from this year’s carpet crawl:

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

This Hollywood power couple looked fabulous as always! Although Brad’s Best Actor nomination for “Moneyball” didn’t result in an award, Angelina’s dress and peekaboo leg were a hot trend on Twitter, showing yet again that they can turn heads where ever they go. Michelle Williams

She turned many a head with her coral gown by Louis Vuitton, making Best Dressed lists everywhere. Natalie Portman

As the couple are notoriously private, there still hasn’t been confirmation on whether they have tied the knot, or not. With Valentine’s Day just yesterday, we’re giving some love to a few Hollywood couples who have stood the test of time. We see stars’ relationships and marriages come and go as often as their hairstyles, but there are also some great role models for those of us looking for love everlasting.

Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick

Sarah and Matthew met through Sarah’s brother who ran a theatre company. They were married May 19, 1997. Their marriage has produced 3 beautiful children: James, Marion and Tabitha. Both Sarah and Matthew have very busy schedules, juggling their careers in the film industry, their charity commitments, and the schedules of their children. Sarah says it’s mayhem, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

We love Sarah’s minimalist look here, but we think she’d look even better with this gorgeous snowflake-style diamond necklace to pair with her icy blue eyes.

Kevin Bacon & Kyra Sedgewick

Kevin and Kyra met way back in the 1980′s on the set of a PBS movie, and were married September 4, 1988. During those 23 years of marriage they’ve had  2 children (Travis and Sosie), made 60+ movies, worked on 13 television series, won 18 awards, and been nominated for 49 more. That’s a success in our books!

We’ve noticed that Kyra wears her wedding band on the red carpet, but not her engagement ring. Here’s a diamond engagement ring that would go perfectly with her style and her yellow gold wedding band.

Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson

Tom and Rita met while working on their television show, Bosom Buddies, but didn’t become romantically involved until they worked together on the film Volunteers. They married in 1988 as well, on April 28th. They have 4 children: Colin and Elizabeth, from Tom’s previous marriage, and Chester and Truman. Colin and Chester both seem to have the acting bug, as well. Colin Hanks had a recurring role on the Showtime hit series, Dexter, this past season.

Part of NBC’s fall line-up, Revenge is getting a lot of attention, including some of the biggest ratings for ABC in years. The show stars Emily VanCamp as Amanda Clarke, aka Emily Thorne, a woman set on destroying those who destroyed her father. After rubbing elbows with the Hamptons elite during Amanda’s childhood, her father was framed and jailed for terrorism. Amanda  has now returned to the Hamptons under the alias “Emily Thorne” to wreak havoc on the lives of those who ruined her father, and took him away from her. As the season unfolds, you come to understand just how passionate she is about her plan, and how far she is willing to go to make them pay for their past deeds.

If you follow the show already, you’ll know there’s a love triangle forming between Emily, Daniel Grayson, and Jack Porter. We already know from the pilot that she and Daniel will be engaged, but here’s the diamond engagement ring I hope that Jack will give Emily when the time is right.

“Amanda Clarke” (Margarita Levieva)

The girl who switched identities with the true Amanda Clarke, her presence threatens to expose them both. Margarita’s character is a poor, small town girl. Her fashion sense doesn’t quite stand up to the rest of the Hampton crew, but we think these diamond earrings would be an understated hit in her crowd.

Ashley Davenport (Ashley Madekwe)

Emily’s best friend and Victoria’s assistant, Ashley seems intent on climbing her way to the top of the Hamptons’ socialite circle by pleasing Victoria any way necessary. Ruthless Emily may come to see poor Ashley as more of a hinderance than a help…  Ashley may not have the same bank rolls, but this bracelet will make her look like a million bucks.

Dakota and Elle Fanning

Sisters Dakota, 17, and Elle, 13, have been in the acting game for over ten years. Though they haven’t portrayed sisters on camera (yet), Elle started her career at age 2 by playing a younger version of her sister’s character in the film Oscar-nominated film, “I Am Sam”. These blonde beauties are also fashionistas: Dakota appeared in a Marc Jacobs campaign, and Elle was invited to the Chanel couture show in Paris, both at the young age of 12.  Elle’s films include Reservation Road, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Super 8; while Dakota’s famous flicks include The War of the Worlds, The Runaways, and the Twilight Saga movies. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley started their careers as infants on the TV show Full House. During the 8 years the show ran, the twins made several videos, as well as creating their own brand of merchandise. These ventures earned them a place on the Forbes’ celebrity 100 list when they were 16. The girls are known for their bohemian-chic fashion sense, and flair for mixing high fashion with thrift store funky. They love accessorizing, and often sport big framed sunglasses and stand-out jewelry. This star diamond necklace would look sweet with their crinolined dresses.

Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian

You can’t talk about screen sisters without mentioning the Kardashians! Kourtney, Kim and Khloe have long been Hollywood socialites, but dove into TV stardom in 2007 with the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Since then the trio have starred in a number of spin-offs, and created a merchandising empire including clothing lines (most notably Kardashian Kollection for Sears), tanning products, and jewelry. As for the Kardashian ladies’ icing, Kim has recently shed her 12-carat engagement ring after divorcing husband, Kris Humphries, but Khloe still dons the 9-carat diamond trio engagement ring from Lamar Omar. There’s been a resurgence in the popularity of Americana, roots and folk music over the last few years. Gillian Welch and Alison Krauss

These two artists came into the mainstream with 2000’s hit film, “O Brother Where Art Thou”. They collaborated on its award-winning soundtrack to sing the hitI’ll Fly Away.

These big blue eyes have captured the hearts of many on TV and the movies, but did you know she could sing, too? Zooey has been the ‘she’ of She and Him with M. Ward since 2008. For those who can’t take their eyes off this beauty, she’s also recently taken off her wedding ring. Sarah Jarosz

Sarah was a mere 18 years old when her first album, Song up in Her Head, came out in 2009. She’s a musical genius, with two award-nominated albums under her belt by the age of twenty. Her instruments include guitar, banjo, and mandolin, but her signature instrument is the mando-cello. Accomplished, but still young, Sarah seems to have a penchant for fun, dangling earrings. These are the pearls we picked for her.

Today we are going to look at the popular TV show Parenthood. This TV series, now in its second season, is about a family tree with a wide variety of branches. Each of the female characters on the show has a distinct style and Celebrity Icing has taken on the challenge of selecting jewelry for each of them:

Jasmine Trussell

Jasmine is Crosby Braverman’s girlfriend, fiance, or ex-girlfriend (depending on which episode you are watching). She is a professional dancer and the mother of his son. She is also extremely independent, to the point of stubborn – but she is trying to allow Crosby into her and her son’s life (his behaviour is not helping).

Sarah Braverman

Played by Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), Sarah Braverman is a single mom who has moved herself and her kids back in to her parent’s house. Her years of marriage to an alcoholic rock musician have left their mark on her style and on her confidence. She is working hard to leave an unstable past behind. At the same time, she is rediscovering her own talent and strength as she moves forward.

Once Sarah Braverman has had some time to herself, it would be wonderful to see her fall in love and get married to a supportive, stable man:

Camille Braverman

Camille is the artsy matriarch of the family. She is the exact opposite of her insensitive, and sometimes unkind, husband- yet she proves to be just as strong as he is when it comes to fighting for her happiness.

Julia Braverman

Julia Braverman-Graham is a successful lawyer and type-A mom who struggles to balance her career with her family. She is one of my favorite TV female characters because we see her faults and her struggles, yet at the same time we are shown that she is a good person who is trying to do her best in challenging circumstances. Sometimes her attempts to be a good mother, good wife, and good lawyer backfire- but her good intentions and her big heart are always there.

Carol Burnett

I spent a big chunk of my childhood watching television and the Carol Burnett show was definitely a highlight. I remember laughing and laughing during the Gone With The Wind skit even though I hadn’t even seen the movie. A black turtleneck with gold hoops are further proof that Carol Burnett knows exactly how far to take something – I wouldn’t like to see bigger hoop earrings on her, but these ones suit her perfectly.

Gilda Radner

I used to sneak out of bed and watch Saturday Night Live when I was eight years old. In fact I re-enacted the Cheeseburger – Pepsi skit during show-and-tell in class. I remember my teacher laughing along – I’m pretty sure she was the only one in the room who had watched the episode, too. In the picture below, Gilda is wearing timeless pearl earrings- an example of jewelry that never goes out of style (time has not been so kind to her hair accessories – check out that scrunchy in her hair).

Shelley Duvall

Shelley Duvall has such a unique look – she had the perfect look for the 70′s – a decade that seemed full of super skinny and super funny women (Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain, Katherine O’Hara, Lily Tomlin, etc).

Lucille Ball

One of my very favorites! In fact, I am just introducing my daughters to episodes of I Love Lucy for the first time and they love them, too. Her hijinx, her facial expressions, her friendship, and her unsinkable determination appeal to all ages. I also love her wardrobe on the show – the cigarette pants, ballet flats, crisp-looking day dresses, and elegant evening wear and jewelry.

Active people who are involved in sports, or whose careers require a lot of physical activity, accessorize differently from the rest of us. For example, a tri-athlete will not want a big pointy, scratchy rock on her finger if she wants to wear her engagement ring when she is training. In fact, it’s a good general rule to remove all jewelry when you are playing sports -and in many cases it is against the rules to wear jewelry during competitive sports.

In this exception, you can see pole vaulter Kate Dennison wearing earrings and a wristwatch. In contact sports you remove jewelry because you might hurt your team mates or opponents. In this case, Dennison is only a danger to herself – for example, she could catch her earring on something and rip her ear lobe.

According to the Etch a Sketch site, Soccer player Raul Gonzales kisses his ring finger every time he scores a goal – one way to make up for taking his wedding ring off before the game!

Jewelry and Sports

• It’s a good idea to remove your jewelry before participating in sports. The same guidelines apply to jobs that require physical activity or operating machinery.
• There will always be exceptions: golfers often wear necklaces (or even anklets).
• Competitive sports, sport associations, and schools will have their own set of rules related to jewelry.
• When you remove jewelry you protect yourself and others from harm.

Jewelry Styles for Active People

It is somewhat of a stereotype (there are plenty of exceptions), but many male and female athletes have a simple, streamlined style. Their jewelry tends to be white gold or silver rather than yellow gold, with simple lines, smooth settings, and embedded stones.

This engagement ring would be the perfect fit for an athletic woman – strong and beautiful.
