“Spotted, Juliette Lewis in Tribeca. Greenwich Street between Watts and Desbrosses.” (omgicu)
Website OMG ICU (omgicu.com) allows users to share New York City star sightings with each other.Often the information just includes the name of the celebrity and the location; but sometimes the information is juicier. For example, what they are doing, who they are with, even critiques of how they look are sometimes included. I found first spottings of engagement rings and smooches, and I’m sure there will also be spottings of weddings, newly married couples coming out of churches in the future, too!
You can search by most recent sightings, neighborhoods, or celebrity standings (A to D list). You can also do specific key word searches for celebrity names, streets, or other key words. A list spottings include everyone from Stephen Colbert to Justin Timberlake and the Dalai Lama. D list spotting examples are: Nicholas Cage (what?! I do not agree!) and Fisher Stevens (formerly married to Kirstie Alley).
Members also get to rate whether they care about the celebrity sighting (or not). For example, 75% of members cared that Uma Thurman was spotted “…on her blackberry, Busy but friendly, smoking a cigarette and looking great.” (omgicu)
Members who live in the NYC area can sign up to receive texts when sightings occur.
This site is great is you are in New York City, but also fun if you just want to keep up to date on your favorite celebs!
Heather Matarazzo (of Welcome to the Dollhouse and The Princess Diaries fame -she was also DJ’s girlfriend on Roseanne) spotted on the 5 train to Union Square“reading Conversations with God with an engagement ring on“(omgicu).

In a beautiful case of irony, Gossip Girl fans can keeps tabs on their favorite gossip boy crushes Chuck Bass and Nate with OMG ICU. Also a great way to find out where they are filming so you can try to catch a glimpse of them ‘for reals’.
“…saw ed westwick and chace crawford at a gossip girl set infront ofgramercy dorm “Chase Crawford with a big posse @ The Thompson Hotel (190 Allen St) on the les around 1am wearing a hat and hoodie.” (omgicu)

OMG ICU is a new website (it is currently operating as an alpha version) so I think the lack of current members is swaying the ratings quite a bit. Do them a favor and sign up and help save Kyle Maclachlan and Kim Gordon from the D-List category, for heaven’s sake!

One characteristic of a cancerian is their loony sense of humor. They also find themselves saying, “well, it seemed like a good idea at the time…”. A lot. Drew Barrymore has experienced some ups and downs in the relationship department but she does shine with good taste in the jewelry department. Her engagement ring to Tom Green was from Tiffany’s and her most recent ex, Justin Long, was seen shopping for engagement rings for her at Cartiers (she reportedly dumped him recently).

Here’s the perfect wedding ring for a cancer: it’s fun, yet it is inspired by a classic Tiffany’s design (Cancers also love tradition and dependability). Cancerian Drew Barrymore seems to favor the simpler, less showy designs – so this would fit right in.

Two other famous Cancers and an undisputed part of rock n roll history, Cobain gave Love a 5 karat diamond and ruby engagement ring (tragically for Love, it was then stolen on Valentine’s Day one year after his death). I couldn’t find any pictures of the original ring, but here is a 2 karat diamond and ruby ring that I would personally love!

Let’s face it, it’s hard to come up with good names for your kids. You might go out of your way to give your child a unique name only to have 5 other kids with the same name in his or her kindergarten class. A few years ago, no one would have said Isabella was common but now the playground is teeming with Bellas and Ellas. Isabella (or a version thereof) is the new Jennifer and Ava is the new Stephanie…
The trick is to come up with a name everyone involved is happy with, that isn’t too common -but that is also easy to pronounce and spell. My own pet peeve is ‘unique’ spellings of common names – the Jenyfurs, etc – I’ve always thought it just makes it look like your parents can’t spell. Is your child really going to thank you after the thousandth time they’ve had to correct the spelling of their name?
Celebrities seem to be be very challenged in this area – I guess their approach is different because they know that little “Rebel” or “Free” will never have to put their name on a resume or seek employment in the real world. A world where studies have shown that any name that is too hard to pronounce, or even just too ethnic – means less interviews…
Well, here at Celebrity Icing we like to celebrate our favorites, so rather than making fun of all the goofy names selected for celebrity spawn we thought we’d spend some time featuring some of the names we like!
Melissa Etheridge and Julie Cypher named their son Beckett and their daughter Bailey (presumably before Grey’s Anatomy went on the air…). The name Beckett means ‘Bee Cottage’ which is rather cute and inspires one to all sorts of nursery room decorating ideas. Beckett may have been named after the famous Irish writer or (and I hope it’s this one) Scott Bakula’s character from Quantum Leap. What child wouldn’t want to be named after the mysterious and adorable time traveler?

Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette named their daughter Coco (rumor: after Courtney Cox). This name meets all of my criteria: if you see it in writing, you immediately know how to pronounce it – yet, at the same time, it’s very rare. According to thinkbabynames.com it is originally from Spain and is the short form of Soccoro (which means ‘lover of soccer’? no, just kidding…). It is cute, yet with a classy hint of Coco Chanel. My only fear would be that people might not take my daughter seriously – but that won’t be a problem if she turns out to be funny like her dad or a strong personality like her mom…

Bruce Willis and Demi More AND Simon LeBon and Yasmin Parvaneh both named a daughter Tallulah. This name means “leaping waters” in the Choctaw language (behindthename.com) or “jumping water” (babynamewizard.com). There is a waterfall named Tallulah in Georgia, where famous Tallulah Bankhead came from. It’s a beautiful sounding name and very rare. According to the namevoyager at babynamewizard.com – it’s never been in the top 1,000 names in any decade on record. (In contrast, Gertrude was ranked #24 in the 1890’s and Isabella was #2 in 2007.) Tallulah Bankhead was actually notorious for her promiscuous behavior, boozing, drugging, and is actually thought to be the inspiration for 101 Dalmation’s Cruella Deville so I’m going with the idea that these children were named after the waterfall! Then again, so many parents named their daughters “Paris” in 2004, that it is ranked #156 in popularity – so nothing can surprise me anymore… yuck…

Apparently, this is what works for Tori Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott. McDermott reset the anniversary gift bar, by deciding to start a tradition of his very own… presenting his wife with a new diamond anniversary ring each year. This year, she was double-diamonded, with a ring duet, composed of one brilliant yellow diamond set alongside a dazzling white diamond. The couple has decided that each year’s ring become part of an heirloom collection to be eventually passed on their children.
One would think that with this year’s selection , she would be set … (at least until Christmas!) But no way! Tori continued to tap into this newfound jewelry bonanza; as Mother’s Day arrived a mere three days afterwards, and she was given a gold necklace and pendant. The pendant, engraved with the letters “L” and “S”, which represented the initials of their two small children, will no doubt eventually become part of the overall collection in the years to come.
Those who are inspired by this, should take note: While this high dosage of diamonds may be a difficult pill to swallow for the average person; the sentiment is one that, on a smaller scale, can be easily be kept. A quality diamond jewelry piece, such as a diamond journey necklace or a diamond anniversary band, given in recognition of a milestone year, will be just as much appreciated by a beloved one; perhaps even more so.
Also, the gift of a diamond necklace or bracelet does not have to be limited to anniversaries only. Never mind the frequency. Dare to be different! In so doing, one will find that an unexpected surprise can be a truly delightful experience for any recipient. Why not just try it for yourself…and see!
